What is Self-Study Continuing Education (CE)?

Self-study continuing education courses are correspondence programs that are available online and by paper, and include a multiple choice final exam that must be passed.

Are WebCE’s 4-hour NAIC Annuity training courses ClearCert certified?

Yes.  WebCE offers a ClearCert certified 4-hour course that fulfills the annuity training requirements in all states that have adopted the NAIC model.  We also offer the required courses for states that have adopted annuity training models different from the NAIC Model Act, such as CA and TX.

How do I set up a User ID and a Password?

Once you have made your course selections from the "Course Catalog" page, select "Checkout".  You will then be prompted to create a new User ID and password, and provide information for your personal profile.  If the desired user ID is taken, you will be asked to select something else for your account.  If you need assistance, please call 877-488-9308.

What personal information does your system store about me?

For the purposes of creating certificates of completion and reporting your CE credits, we must have your full name, address, daytime phone number, and license number. Some reporting entities also require the use of your Social Security Number for reporting credits.

A credit card will be required to process your order online; however, our system DOES NOT store credit card information and the card information is entered on a secure and encrypted page. For information about our Privacy Policy, click on "Terms/Privacy" on the "Home Page."

How do I find my license number and renewal date?

Your license number should be located on the information received from your state. There are also license look up links within the "Compliance Requirements" link located on your states course catalog. If you do not have a renewal date, use your CE compliance date.

How long is my account information kept on file?

Our system stores your entire course history and profile information for a minimum of five years.

How do I update my personal information in my profile?

You are able to change any contact information within your profile at any time by signing into you account and clicking the "My Profile" link on the left hand side menu. If you would like to change your name, please call our toll-free customer support at 877-488-9308.  Remember, your name should match the spelling on file for your license and/or designation.

Is my personal information safe and secure?

Yes.  We have taken many precautions to ensure that our systems are secure and that they meet industry standards, including the application of firewalls for our Internet-based systems.  Any time you see an “s” displayed at the end of http://, you are on a secure page.  For example, https://www.webce.com would be a secure site.

How do I view the course catalog?

You can access the "Course Catalog" by selecting your state on the map of the United States.  A box will immediately appear for you to select your license type.  Once you have selected your license type, you will be directed to the course catalog, where you can begin selecting courses.

In most states, WebCE courses are available in both online and paper formats. In addition, interactive classroom equivalent and online monitor free courses are available as online only in some states.

WebCE has several courses available, how do I know which ones to choose?

To help you choose courses, click on the "Compliance Requirements’" link located under the “Choose a Course” box once you are in your state’s "Course Catalog".  The "Compliance Requirements" page includes information on your state regulations, such as subject requirements, course repetition, carryover, and more.  Courses approved for special state-specific requirements are specifically noted in red next to each course title (i.e. Ethics, Law, Annuities, LTC, etc.).

Where do I find the state-assigned course numbers?

Unless it is required by your state to list the course numbers prior to your course completion, the course numbers will be available on WebCE’s certificates of completion. Most certificates of completion can instantly be printed online once you successfully complete the course exam.

How do I find the price for WebCE courses?

How do I get the get the bundle price?

It is not a preselected package; pick and choose the courses you would like to take and add them to your shopping cart. Once all courses are in the shopping cart screen, the discount will automatically be applied. Additional fees may apply for paper books, shipping and state filing fees where applicable.

What is the difference between “price before discount” and “bundled pricing”?

The “price before discount” is the individual course price to be paid if you select ONLY that single course for your order. “Bundled pricing” gives you a discounted price if you order multiple courses at one time. When you order multiple courses at the same time the bundled price discount is automatically applied at checkout. All courses must be ordered at one time and for only one agent. Prices before discount and bundled pricing do not include state filing fees or books and shipping if they apply. Some specialty courses are not subject to the bundled package discounts.

Are there any fees not included in the course price?

The course price includes the course as well as all grading and certificate fees. The only additional charges that may apply are state filing fees where applicable, and if you select paper courses and/or paper exams, shipping and book fees.

What are State Filing Fees?

State Filing Fees (sometimes called Roster Fees) are additional charges levied by states to process continuing education credits.  WebCE is required by these states to collect the filing fees from you and remit them to your state.  If applicable, you will see these fees added to your total invoice amount, under the “Additional Fees” section of the checkout screen.

How do I receive a receipt?

For online purchases, you may print a complete itemized invoice of your CE purchase from the website. To print an online receipt:

  • Sign in with your User ID and Password
  • Select the "My Orders" link on the menu bar, and then select the ‘View Receipt" link for the order you wish to print the receipt.

A receipt will automatically accompany paper-based orders.

My voucher is expired, can I still use it?

Vouchers received for WebCE courses have unique numbers and are distributed by the company purchasing the vouchers. Expired vouchers cannot be reinstated by WebCE after the expiration date.

If I choose online delivery, how do I access the course material?

Online courses can be accessed by logging into your account from the "Sign In" link on the home page with the User ID and password you established or were given by one of WebCE’s call center representatives. After signing in, click on the course title you wish to begin, which is located under “Available Courses” on your "My Courses" page.

Where can I find my available courses once I have ordered them?

Select the "Sign In" option on the left menu bar, and enter your User ID and Password. Your available courses will be listed under the “My Courses” option located on the left menu bar.

Can I print my online course material?

In most states you can print the course material from your web browser or as a PDF file.  Exam material cannot be printed.

Do I have to review my online course all at once?

You are able to log in and out of your online course as many times as you need to study the course material or take an open-book exam (if your state allows open-book exams). WebCE suggests that you complete monitored exams in one sitting. However, if you lose your Internet connection or if your monitor needs to leave in the middle of your exam, the system will automatically save your exam answers, and you can come back to start where you left off.

Can I change the course text size?

Yes.  Students can change the text size of the material by clicking one of the “A” boxes under the title of the course.

Do I have to hit the “Save and Exit” button for my progress to be saved?

No.  You do not have to click “Save and Exit” before closing out of the course material.  Your place within the course and previous progress is saved automatically.

If I choose paper delivery, how will I receive my order?

All orders are shipped UPS Ground unless Next Day is requested. Orders in Alaska and Hawaii can only be shipped through the US Postal Service (USPS) or UPS Next Day Air. Next-Day Air orders placed after 3pm CST will be processed the next business day. Next-Day Air orders will be delivered on the next business day.  All Ground shipments are typically delivered in three to five days.

Can I track my paper order after it has been shipped?

Yes. By logging into your online account from the "Sign In" link you will be able to check the real-time status of your shipped package if it was sent UPS Ground or Next Day Air.  Please note, Next-Day Air will be delivered on the next business day.  All Ground shipments are typically delivered in three to five days.

Are classroom equivalent courses different than self-study online courses?

Yes.  Classroom Equivalent courses do not have a final exam. Classroom Equivalent courses require students to read each chapter and pass an end-of-chapter quiz before proceeding to the next chapter. Classroom Equivalent courses offered in Texas and Utah satisfy the “In Class” requirements for both states.

No. Due to the requirements imposed by states that allow classroom equivalent courses, they cannot be printed and must be taken entirely online.

What happens if I do not pass my exam?

• Online Exams: If you do not pass an online exam, the system will automatically give you the opportunity to retest online.
• Paper Exams: If you do not pass a paper exam, WebCE will contact you and give you the option to retest online (if available) and/or send you another paper exam by regular mail.

All retakes will contain a different set of test questions from the original exam.  WebCE offers unlimited retakes at no additional charge.

How do I find out what I missed on my exam?

Due to the fact that WebCE offers unlimited, free retakes, and in order to maintain the integrity of the exams, WebCE is not permitted to provide the answers or specific questions missed on any exam.  However, if you do not successfully pass an exam, WebCE provides a "Failed Exam Summary" to give you a general breakdown of your exam success at a chapter-by-chapter level.

How do I access to my online exam?

Online courses and exam materials are available immediately after payment by logging into your online account. To access the exam for a specific course, click on the course title under “Available Courses." Select “Begin Course” and your exam will be located at the bottom of the screen.

Do I have to complete the exam in one sitting, or can I leave the exam and come back later?

Exams can be paused at any time.The system will remember the answers to the questions you have completed if you were to close the browser or lose Internet connection. If you close a monitored exam the system will ask your exam monitor to re-enter his/her password again before you can complete the remaining test questions.

If my internet connection is lost, will WebCE save my answers?

Yes. The online system will save the answers for any test pages completed prior to the loss of connection.

What happens if I do not hit the “Save and Exit” button before I exit out of an exam?

You do not have to click “Save and Exit” before closing out of the exam.  Your exam questions are automatically saved once they have been answered.

If I take a paper-based exam, what do I need to mail back to WebCE in order to have my exams graded?

Paper exams must be mailed back to WebCE for grading.  Before mailing your answer sheet(s), please make sure that your answers are clearly marked, that the compliance declarations are complete, and you and your monitor (if applicable) have signed and dated the form. Retain copies of your test questions for your records.

To ensure prompt processing of your credits, please return only:

  • Affidavits or any other special forms required by the state (if applicable)
  • WebCE Customer information sheet (if your profile information must be updated)

How long does it take to grade paper exams?

How do I know if my exam needs to be monitored?

Monitoring requirements vary by state. If your state requires an exam monitor, information will be listed in the "Exam Proctor Requirements” box in your state’s "Course Catalog."  Monitoring requirements can also be found in the “Compliance Requirements” page.

How are online exams monitored?

When you open a monitored online exam for the first time, a box will appear on your screen and ask the exam monitor to provide certain information required by the state. Once your monitor has successfully logged-in and identified herself/himself, you will then have access to the exam questions.

What information does WebCE require from an exam monitor?

  • Name
  • Address
  • Phone number
  • Unique identifying number, like social security or driver’s license
  • Some states also require a state approval number or insurance license number

If I must retake an exam, am I required to use the same monitor?

No. You have the option to use a different monitor for each exam taken.

Where can I find my state’s monitor/proctor approval form?

In the states where a specific form is required for proctoring, the form is available to print from a link located in the “Exam Proctor Requirements” box of your state’s course catalog.

How does a monitor-free course work?

Exam delivery will vary based on your state’s specific requirements.  Most monitor-free states have open-book exams and you will have access to the course material within the exam.
There are some monitor-free states that require the exams to be closed-book, which means you are not allowed to review or access the material while you are answering the exam questions.  Please check the “Exam Proctor Requirements” box of your state’s "Course Catalog" for more information on your state’s rules and regulations.

How long does it take to get certificates of completion?

In most states, certificates of completion are available to print online immediately after passing the exam.  If you completed a paper-based exam, WebCE will mail your certificate of completion within 1 business day.  If your state does not allow online printable certificates, WebCE will email the certificates of completion to the email address on file.

Can I print my certificates of completion from the Internet?

Online certificates of completion are available in most states, and can be printed immediately upon completion of the course, or anytime thereafter. If your state does not allow online certificates, WebCE will email the certificates of completion to the email address on file.

What do I do if I have lost my original certificate?

WebCE maintains your records for a minimum of 5 years.  We can send you a duplicate copy of your certificate of completion at no additional charge.  To get a duplicate copy of your certificate of completion, call our toll-free customer support at 877-488-9308.

Will WebCE report my courses to the state?

WebCE reports course completions in most states every business day where required and/or permitted to do so.  In states that do not permit next-day reporting, WebCE will report your courses during the state’s scheduled reporting period. 

Please note that there are some states that do not require the providers to report CE course completions.  For more information on your state’s reporting requirements, please go to the “Course Catalog” and view your state's “Compliance Requirements”.  Reporting information can also be found on your state’s certificate of completion.

How will I know my courses have been reported to the state?

Once your courses have been reported, your online account will be updated with the report date. WebCE will also send you an email notification when your course has been reported to the state.

Can I get CE credit for my insurance license in non-resident states?

WebCE will furnish you with certificates of completion for each of the courses ordered for your resident license.  Depending on the state's non-resident CE requirements, additional certificates can be provided for a fee if they are needed for a non-resident state. Most states will accept your resident CE completion for a non-resident license. To get more information regarding your specific CE requirements for a non-resident license, it is best to contact the non-resident departments of insurance directly.

Are CE vouchers available?

Yes. We offer voucher services to hundreds of companies and associations nationwide. How does WebCE use my email address?

Once you complete an order, WebCE will send you a reminder of your login information and an order confirmation for your records. From time to time WebCE or its co-brand partners may send its customers information about products or services related to their profession. WebCE may also send you a reminder of your CE requirements the next time your renewal date rolls around. If you do not wish to receive these messages, uncheck the “opt in” box from your profile page. WebCE never sells the information we receive from our customers.

Is the WebCE site secure?

Yes. Any time you send or receive personal or credit card information to WebCE, you will see a lock at the bottom of your browser indicating you are viewing a secure page and the data flowing to or from WebCE will be encrypted. Additionally, the data stored on WebCE’s computers is secured. We take standard precautions to ensure that our systems are secure and that they meet industry standards, including the application of firewalls for our Internet-based systems.
