CPAs and PAs must complete 120 CPE hours every 3 years. Included in those hours must be 3 hours of professional standards and responsibilities (PSR) by a Board-approved sponsor in each reporting period. An Ohio permit holder must complete a minimum of 20 CPE credit annually. Failure to complete 20 CPE credits annually may result in a fine of ten dollars for every CPE credit deficient.
Newly licensed CPAs must complete 40 hours the initial 2-year renewal (“newly certified period”). This 2-year period starts the January of the year a CPA earns their license and ends the December 31 following the year the CPA was initially licensed.
Special Training/Education Requirements:
Online renewal for certified public accountants (CPAs) and public accountants (PAs) is available until January 2. CPAs may begin the online renewal process once they receive the renewal notice with a User ID and Password.
Out-of-State: Licensees who hold the out-of-state status on the basis of a valid CPA license to practice public accounting in another state who reside in that state may renew their status with no fee by using the Ohio E-License Center.

All CPE is reported by calendar year, beginning on January 1 and ending on December 31.
The 3 year period ending 12/31 triennially after the CPAs first 24-month newly certified cycle.
Self-study final exams are open-book. You may refer to the course material as often as needed to complete the final exam. If the final exam is not passed on the first attempt, students have an unlimited number of retakes.
Self-Study Final Exam: 70%
Excess hours earned in a CPE cycle may not be carried forward to a subsequent CPE cycle.
Courses cannot be taken for credit more than once in a 3-year reporting period.
WebCE does NOT report CPE course completions to the Accountancy Board of Ohio. CPAs can report their CPE course completions with their registration renewal.
WebCE provides online printable certificates of completion. Certificates of completion will be available to print online immediately after the final exam is passed. You should maintain written evidence of completion for a period of 5 years following the completion of each reporting activity.
