CFP Provider Number: 2257Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. owns the certification marks CFP®, CERTIFIED FINANCIALPLANNER TM and federally registered CFP (with flame design) in the U.S., which it awards to individuals who successfully complete CFP Board’s initial and ongoing certification requirements.
30 CE hours, including 2-hours from a CFP Board-approved program on CFP Board’s Code of Ethics and Professional Responsibility (Code of Ethics) and/or Financial Planning Practice Standards, are required every 2 year license term.
The certification period expires on the last day of the renewal month every two years.
The expiration date is located on the CFP Board ID card and can also be accessed by logging in to CFP Board’s website at www.CFP.net/login.
The CE requirement is effective immediately upon initial certification. The number of CE hours for newly-certified CFP is prorated for the period from initial certification to the end of the initial certification period.
The final exam must be passed with a score of 70 percent or higher to receive credit.
The Code of Ethics and/or Practice Standards programs must have a passing score of 80 percent or higher.
Self-study final exams are open-book and do not require a proctor. Students may refer to the course material as often as needed.
Any CE hours in excess of the requirement may not be applied to subsequent reporting periods. CE hours earned for any one program may not be split between two reporting periods.
Credit will not be given for any course taken more than once in any 2-year certification period.
WebCE reports CFP CE course completions every business day to CFP Board for no additional cost.
WebCE provides online, printable certificates of completion. Certificates of completion are available to print online immediately after the final exam is passed. The licensee must keep a copy of each certificate of completion in his or her files for 4 years.
