Understanding OSHA compliance rules and regulations is critical for funeral professionals. This course addresses important OSHA standards and regulations governing safe practices for funeral homes, including the OSHA Formaldehyde Standard, the Bloodborne Pathogen Standards, and Personal Protective Equipment. The course also covers appropriate preparation room procedures, the proper treatment of sharps, and corrective actions. 

This course offers four lessons:

  • Lesson 1: OSHA Requirements for Funeral Homes
  • Lesson 2: Preparation Room Safe Practices and Formaldehyde
  • Lesson 3: Hazard Communication and Bloodborne Pathogens
  • Lesson 4: Review of Important Points
Exam Requirements: Self-study exams are open-book and do not require a monitor.

Important Study Requirements: You must submit form BFS-CE6OL to the North Carolina Board of Funeral Service at least 10 days before taking an online exam.

The North Carolina Board of Funeral Service does not permit agents to access the final exam until the student's time in the course equals the number of approved credit hours. The course must be stopped if the student is inactive for more than 10 minutes.
