Law and Ethics for Texas Insurance Agents -- CLEQ

The purpose of this course is to present the concept of ethics and law for licensed Texas insurance agents.  It does so through a variety of topics that have been held by the Texas Department of Insurance to be consistent with “insurance ethics,” and focuses not only on ethics as a philosophy, but on related domains and practice standards that affect the day-to-day business of insurance in this state.   

The topics covered in this course include:
  • the importance of ethics and ethical conduct
  • ethics and Texas insurance law
  • agent duties under the law of agency
  • unfair methods of competition 
  • unfair or deceptive acts or practices
  • unfair claim settlement practices
  • fair and ethical advertising
  • insurance fraud
