Course Description
This course provides an introduction to the medical payments and uninsured motorists (UM) coverages of the standard Insurance Services Office, Inc. (ISO) personal auto policy (PAP). Underinsured motorists (UIM), no-fault insurance, and personal injury protection (PIP) coverage and their application are also discussed. Upon completion of this course you will have a greatly enhanced understanding of:

  • the medical payments coverage provided by the personal auto policy (PAP)
  • the limitations imposed by the PAP on the application of medical payments coverage
  • the problems that can occur from the “stacking of limits” of the various coverages afforded under PAP policies
  • the purpose of “no-fault” insurance and how it works
  • define “tort threshold”
  • the benefits payable under personal injury protection (PIP) coverage in those states where it is available
  • the purpose of “uninsured motorists coverage” and how it works
  • the two “triggers” that cause underinsured motorists coverage to apply
