South Dakota Medicaid

The purpose of this course is to provide an overview of South Dakota’s long-term care Medicaid program and how it relates to the state’s long-term care partnership program. The course is intended to offer a core aspect of the 8-hour training necessary to sell long-term care insurance in South Dakota. The course content is derived from the long-term care partnership training material developed by the South Dakota Department of Social Services, and is intended for both resident and non-resident producers who need specific training on South Dakota Medicaid. The course covers:

  • qualified long-term care insurance policies
  • requirements for Medicaid payment for long-term care services
  • financial eligibility criteria for Medicaid long-term care
  • South Dakota's Long-Term Care Partnership Program

(Students are advised that this course must be supplemented with a general course of study on long-term care, long-term care insurance, and the basics of partnership programs. This course alone does not cover the full 8-hour training South Dakota mandates for the sale of long-term care insurance. For full training, WebCE offers a South Dakota-specific version of its Long-Term Care: Programs, Policies, and Partnerships course.)
