IRMI on Homeowners: Property Coverages and Covered Perils

Course Description
This course focuses primarily on the 2000 edition of the Insurance Services Office, Inc. (ISO) Homeowners 3 Special Form (HO 3), since this is one of the most commonly used forms. Although many insurers use their own homeowners forms, most of these are patterned closely to the ISO forms because the ISO language is court tested, rates are easier to develop, and state approval processes are quickened. The ISO homeowners program also includes dozens of endorsements that in some way amend the homeowners form. Loss scenarios are presented throughout the course to facilitate understanding.

The course includes the following chapters:

  • Introduction
  • History and Development of Homeowners Policies
  • The Homeowners Policy Form
  • Property Coverages
  • Covered Perils
  • Additional Coverages
