Insurance for Small Businesses

Course Description
This course explains the insurance coverages commonly used to address the property and liability exposures of small businesses. For purposes of this course, “small businesses” consist of those insureds with common or typical insurance needs that are eligible for coverage under a so-called businessowners policy. Businessowners policies provide broad coverage in a package policy for many of the property and liability exposures faced by small businesses, but they usually do not address all insurance needs. Additional small business insurance needs usually include auto liability and physical damage insurance and workers compensation insurance. Many small businesses also need professional liability insurance and umbrella liability coverage under separate policies. These other policies, which complement the coverage of a businessowners policy, are discussed in the final chapters of this course.

This course covers the following topics:

  • Introduction to Small Business Insurance
  • Property Coverage in the ISO BOP
  • Liability Coverage in the ISO BOP
  • Property Coverage in the AAIS BOP
  • Liability Coverage in the AAIS BOP
  • Auto Insurance for Small Businesses
