Ethics and Business Practices


One may define ethics as a method, procedure, or perspective for deciding how to act and for analyzing complex problems and issues. Many different disciplines, institutions, and professions have standards for behavior that suit their particular aims and goals. These standards also help members of the discipline to coordinate their actions or activities and to establish the public's trust of the discipline.

The course provides an understanding of the nature of ethics, the role ethics plays in business, and how ethical dilemmas in business and in all of life can be addressed practically and productively. It provides advice on how to identify your own values and the obligations you have because of these values. You will learn how to recognize ethical dilemmas when they arise, how to get enough information to assess your responsibilities in a specific situation, and how to analyze a complex ethical choice.
