Current Issues in WA Residential RE (Core) 2020-2021

Overview

This course provides important updates about recent legislative and industry changes that affect Washington real estate professionals. It examines revisions to common NWMLS forms, amendments to the Landlord-Tenant Act, VA loan program updates , and best practices to use in multiple offer situations. It concludes with a discussion of the NAR Code of Ethics professional courtesies that real estate professionals should follow.

This course satisfies the mandatory three-hour Washington residential core course requirement for 2020-2021.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion, students will be able to:

  • understand recent updates to common NWMLS forms, including the escalation addendum and evidence of funds addendum
  • list best practices to use in a multiple offer situation
  • explain changes to the real estate excise tax and business and occupations tax surcharge
  • describe recent updates to the VA loan program
  • identify federal, state, and local protected classes and how to comply with fair housing laws
  • explain the professional courtesies that licensees are encouraged to follow during all transactions and interactions with others
  • describe recent legislative changes to the Landlord/Tenant Act
