Mortuary Law Updates for Texas Funeral Professionals

Overview

An important part of a funeral service professional's duties is to ensure that he or she is familiar with all laws and administrative regulations that apply to the licenses the professional holds. In Texas, funeral professionals must comply with Texas Occupations Code, Chapter 651, as well as other chapters of the Texas Health & Safety Code and various rules promulgated by the Texas Funeral Service Commission pertaining to the funeral industry.

This course provides an overview of how the funeral industry is regulated in Texas and takes an in-depth look at the licensing, recordkeeping, and disclosure requirements that apply to funeral directors, embalmers, cremationists, and funeral and cremation establishments. It also highlights actions that violate the state's laws against unfair or deceptive practices and discusses the ethical duties that funeral professionals must follow when working with the public.
