Regulatory Ethics - Data Safety

Overview

Data is the lifeblood of business. As such, CPAs need to be vigilant in safeguarding their clients' confidential data. CPAs are also ethically bound to protect their clients' information, in accordance with the AICPA Code of Professional Conduct which requires members not to disclose confidential client information without that client's specific consent. Safeguarding confidential data is also necessary to comply with federal and state regulations.

This course covers several important topics CPAs should be mindful of regarding client data. These topics include regulatory requirements for maintaining confidential client information, malpractice considerations regarding data, and requirements for client record retention systems.
