Like all industries, farming and agribusiness operations are being subjected to increased levels of scrutiny in areas that have not traditionally considered exposures. Exposures arising from pollution liabilities, management liability such as employment practices liabilities, and crime are just some of the areas that must be reviewed and addressed when crafting an insurance program that properly protects farming operations. This course focuses on identifying these exposures and addressing them through risk management techniques and specialized insurance coverages.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion, students will be able to:

  • recognize the pollution and other environmental exposures faced by farmers and agribusiness operators and identify the risk management and insurance options available
  • understand where D&O actions may arise and evaluate how a D&O policy can provide coverage
  • identify employment-related loss exposures faced by agricultural employers and understand how an EPLI policy can provide coverage
  • identify exposures arising from fiduciary liability, employee benefits liability, kidnap, ransom, and extortion insurance
  • identify the exposures agribusiness clients face from crime losses and the most common crime coverages that pertain to agribusiness accounts
