What are the Insurance Continuing Education requirements for Indiana?

Life & Health Producers

24 CE hours total, including:
  • Ethics: 3 CE hours

P&C Producers & Adjusters

24 CE hours total
  • There is not an Ethics requirement for P&C Producers or Adjusters

Are there any course approval restrictions for Indiana Insurance CE?

Licensees may take courses in any line of authority.

When does Indiana Insurance CE have to be completed?

The last day of the licensee's birth month every 2 years.

Can Insurance CE courses be repeated?

Courses cannot be repeated more than once in a 2 year license term.

What are the Annuity Training requirements for Indiana?

Annuity Training
Hours: 4
Frequency: Producers must complete a one-time 4-hour Annuity Suitability Certification Training prior to selling, soliciting, or negotiating annuity products in Indiana.

Residents and non-residents who have completed this training in another state with laws similar to Indiana's law will be compliant with the requirement.

What are the Long-Term Care Training requirements for Indiana?

Initial Training
Hours: 8
Frequency: One-time training must be complete prior to selling LTC products. The 8 hours may be counted as part of the required CE credits for the compliance period in which they were completed.

Ongoing Training
Hours: 5
Frequency: Ongoing training must be completed every 2-year license period, following the initial training requirement.

Long-Term Care Partnership Initial Training Requirement
Hours: 7
Frequency: One-time training must be completed prior to selling LTC partnership insurance products. The 7-hour ILTCP must be completed in a classroom.

Residents and non-residents who satisfy the training requirements of another state with laws similar to Indiana's law will be compliant with the 8 hour and 5 hour requirement. The 7 hour IN Partnership CE requirement must be completed by residents and non-residents prior to representing long-term care partnership insurance.

Frequency: One-time training must be complete prior to selling flood insurance products.

Can Insurance CE course hours carry over to the next renewal cycle?

Excess CE credit hours may not be carried over to the next 2-year license term.

What is the Indiana Insurance license renewal process?

  1. Electronic renewals will be available 90 days prior to the expiration date and will not be available after the expiration date.
  2. To complete license renewal, Continuing Education requirements must be met prior to submission of a renewal application.
  3. Complete renewal application and submit fees.

  • WebCE courses are classified as online self-study courses.
  • Students must read through the course material for each course before attempting a final exam.
  • Self-study exams are closed-book and require a monitor.
  • Monitor requirements: Must be a licensed agent.
  • Exams may be remotely monitored. Please refer to our Virtual Monitoring Guide for more information.
  • Final exam passing score: 70%
  • If the final exam is not passed on the first attempt, students have an unlimited number of retakes.

How often does WebCE report Indiana Insurance CE course completions?

Does WebCE supply a certificate of completion for Indiana Insurance CE courses?

Online PDF certificates of completion are available to print immediately after the course is completed. Producers must retain copies of each certificate of completion in their files for at least 4 years.

What are the Indiana Insurance CE requirements for non-residents?

Producers
Non-resident licensees who meet CE requirements in their home state are not required to meet Indiana CE requirements.

Adjusters
Non-resident adjusters who satisfy the adjuster requirement in their resident state will be deemed compliant for the Indiana adjuster requirement. If their resident state, or designated home state, does not have an adjuster requirement, then they must complete 24 hours of approved Indiana CE.

Are there any CE exemptions?

The following are exempt from Indiana CE requirements:
  • Individuals who no longer actively solicit insurance but who maintain a license in order to collect commissions on business written while still active producers.
  • Individuals licensed for travel, accident and baggage.
