WebCE® Announces Availability of New CFP® 2008 Code of Ethics and Rules of Conduct Course
Course completed via the Internet fulfills CFP® Ethics Requirement
WebCE, the nationwide provider of professional education for CFP® certificants and insurance practitioners, announced today the immediate availability of a new course that covers CFP Board of Standards’ 2008 Code of Ethics. The course, CFP® Code of Ethics and Rules of Conduct, was designed to meet the 2-hour continuing education requirement on CFP Board's Code of Ethics, which applies to all certificants. The new web-based course has already been approved by CFP Board.
“The revised ethics rules and standards become effective July 1, 2008, and we wanted to ensure that our clients have a new program that addresses the changes and enables them to meet their on-going educational requirement,” said Anne Shropshire, CLU, WebCE’s Director of Content. “The course highlights and explains the significant changes to both the Code of Ethics and the Rules of Conduct, and provides additional insight and commentary.”
WebCE anticipates the imminent approval of a second CFP® Ethics course titled “CFP® Financial Planning Practice Standards.” With the addition of these two new courses, WebCE now offers CFP® professionals 80 different courses to fulfill their required 30 hours of CE. These WebCE courses have all been approved by CFP Board and are available online for only $15.00 each.
About the CFP® Ethics CE Requirement
In May, 2007, CFP Board announced the adoption of updated versions of the Code of Ethics and Professional Responsibility and the Financial Planning Practice Standards. The revised Code and revised Practice Standards become effective as of July 1, 2008. Each reporting period, CFP® certificants are required to complete 2 hours of CE study from a pre-approved program on CFP Board's Code of Ethics and/or Practice Standards. This requirement is designed to ensure that certificants review and remain informed of the Code of Ethics and Practice Standards to which they agree to adhere as a condition of certification.
