Dallas, Texas, August 23, 2016—
International Risk Management Institute, Inc. (IRMI®), and WebCE have launched an online curriculum for the Energy Risk and Insurance Specialist (ERIS™) certification and continuing education program at ERIS-ce.com.

The ERIS program is a specialized curriculum focusing on the insurance and risk management needs of the energy industry, with an initial focus on the oil and gas exploration, production, and transmission industry. Those who complete the program are entitled to display the ERIS certification to attest to their knowledge of energy insurance and risk management and dedication to the industry.

The core curriculum is composed of five basic- to intermediate-level insurance and risk management continuing education courses which are directly focused on understanding, mitigating, and insuring the complex exposures of oil and gas risks.

  • Understanding the Oil and Gas Industry and Its Risks
  • Contractual Risk Transfer in Energy
  • Commercial Liability for the Energy Industry
  • Workers Compensation and Maritime Liability for the Energy Industry
  • Control of Well/Operators Extra Expense Risks and Insurance

“Everything we do depends on energy, so it is one of the most important issues of our time,” said Millie Workman, director of training and education at IRMI. “Managing the risks that arise from the unique operations in the energy industry requires specialized knowledge and expertise. The online ERIS certification program provides opportunities for those involved in energy risk management and insurance to access the information and resources to help manage those risks more effectively.”

Completing all five courses (each with a passing score) entitles energy insurance professionals to display and use the ERIS certification. Each ERIS course costs $99, plus $15 for CE credit if needed.

To maintain the certification, the ERIS certification holder must complete only 6 hours of ERIS continuing education credit every 12 months thereafter. This can be satisfied through just one additional online course or by attending approved seminars and conferences.
