Filing Deadlines for the 2020 Tax Season
The Internal Revenue Service started accepting electronic and paper returns on January 27, 2020. Electronic filings generally get faster responses. Individual returns and payments are due on Wednesday, April 15, 2020, and an extension until Thursday,October 15 will be granted for filing returns but not for making tax payments.
How do I check my refund status?
The IRS offers two different ways to track your refund: Where's My Refund on IRS.gov and the
IRS2Go mobile app. Through
the website and app, you'll be able to check the status of your refund. You can check your status 24 hours after the IRS received your electronically filed tax return or 4 weeks after you’ve mailed a paper tax return.
When will I receive my tax refund?
Below is a chart of when you should expect your tax refund if you filed
electronically. While this information is an estimate, it's based on
historical data as well as early information from the IRS and could be
applicable for most people. In the past, the IRS refunded more than 90% of
filed tax to taxpayers in less than 21 days.
