What are the Insurance Exam Prep education requirements for Kansas?

Kansas does not require licensing candidates to complete prelicensing education; however, it is recommended to complete an exam prep course before attempting to take your state’s licensing exam.

How to get an insurance license in Kansas

Meet the general eligibility criteria
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Reside or maintain a principal place of residence in Kansas

Prepare for state licensing exam
- Use the WebCE Exam Prep courses to better prepare you to pass the state licensing exam.

Apply For Tax Clearance:
- Apply for a Certificate of Tax Clearance from the Kansas Department of Revenue and submit it to the Department. You MUST electronically submit the tax clearance to the Kansas Insurance Department at: [email protected] with Tax Clearance in the Subject of the email. For more information on tax clearances, see the Department’s website at https://www.insurance.kansas.gov/licensing/resident-producer-licensing.

Submit fingerprints
- Pearson VUE now offers digital fingerprinting to all resident and non-resident candidates at the following test centers: Overland Park, Topeka, and Wichita. To make a fingerprint reservation, go to www.pearsonvue.com or call Pearson VUE. There are additional costs associated with being fingerprinted at a Pearson VUE Professional Center. To make a fingerprint reservation go to: https://home.pearsonvue.com/ks/insurance. Log into Available Exams, select OTHER, and choose: Fingerprint KSINSFP: KS INS Fingerprint Appointment. Use your full legal name, as it appears on your government-issued ID, when you make your fingerprint reservation. The fingerprint fee of $20 must be paid at the time of the reservation by credit card, or debit card. Fingerprint appointments may not be able to be scheduled at the same time as exam appointments. Apply for a License
- Candidates may apply for a license before or after passing the licensing exam.
- Complete the insurance license application online at NIPR.com.

What are the WebCE Kansas Insurance Exam Prep course requirements?

WebCE insurance exam prep courses follow the state exam content outlines. Students should read each lesson before proceeding to the next lesson.

WebCE may periodically edit course content (e.g. to correct typographical errors) which may be reflected in the student's course. Students will never be assessed an additional fee beyond their initial enrollment fee, for any changes made by WebCE to course content.

WebCE suggests students pass the closed-book non-monitored Exam Prep Practice exam with a score of 70% or higher and then utilize Exam Tutor and Flash Tutor for further practice before your exam day.

What is the access period for WebCE Kansas Insurance Exam Prep courses?

90 days from the date of purchase. One additional extension for an additional 90 days can be purchased for $50.

How often does WebCE report Kansas Insurance Exam Prep course completions?

WebCE does not report exam prep course completions as the Kansas Department of Insurance does not require course completions to be reported.

Does WebCE supply a certificate of completion for Kansas Insurance Exam Prep courses?

Online PDF certificates of completion are available to print immediately after passing the WebCE course exam. Certificates are for personal records and is not required for the state exam.
Completion of any WebCE course, including its exam preparation courses, does not guarantee employment for the student upon course completion.

What is the process to transfer an insurance license to Kansas?

To qualify as a Kansas new resident insurance agent, the applicant must satisfy all the following requirements

Provide a Clearance letter

What is the process to obtain a non-resident insurance license in Kansas?

Though an application must be submitted, it is not necessary to take a license examination to obtain a non-resident agent license.

Are there any Kansas insurance product specific training requirements?

Before selling, soliciting or negotiating the following products, insurance license holders are required to complete the training outlined below. These training hours can be used toward the total CE hours required to renew the license.

Annuity Training

State required training for insurance producers that sell annuity products.

Initial Training
Hours: 4
Frequency: One-time training must be complete prior to selling annuity products. Producers are also required to complete on an ongoing basis, company-sponsored, product-specific training, sponsored by the insurance company offering the product.

Long-Term Care Partnership Training

State required training for insurance producers that sell long-term care partnership products.

Initial Training
Hours: 4
Frequency: One-time training must be complete prior to selling LTCP products.

Ongoing Training
Hours: 1
Frequency: Ongoing training must be completed every license period, following the initial training requirement.

State required training for insurance producers that sell flood insurance products.
