1. Meet the general eligibility criteria
   • Be at least 18 years of age
   • A United States citizen or legal alien who possesses work authorization from the United States Immigration and Naturalization Service Not be an employee of the United States Department of Veterans Affairs or state service office, as referred to in Section 626.833, Florida Statutes.
   • Be a resident of the State of Florida.
2. Complete required prelicensing education
   • Prepare for the Florida State Exam by completing a pre-licensing course of study.
   • To satisfy the requirements for your course, you will need to pass a closed-book Exam Prep Course Certification Exam with a 70% or greater and complete an online affidavit at the end of the course stating the applicant understands the course examination must be completed unassisted by any person, by the course materials, or by other materials.
3. Submit fingerprints
   • Fingerprinting is a mandatory requirement for almost all of the licenses, registrations, and certifications

4. Register and pass state licensing exam
   • Make an exam reservation at www.pearsonvue.com/fl/insurance or by calling (888) 274-2020.
     Before making an exam reservation applicants should thoroughly review the State of Florida Licensing Candidate Handbook. The Candidate Handbook and additional licensing information can be accessed by clicking on the Student Handbook button above.
   • Bring one form of current signature identification (a valid driver’s license, non-driver ID, passport, military ID, or employee ID card, credit card)
   • Please Note: Effective immediately, OnVUE online proctored exams will no longer be offered as a supplemental testing option for Florida Insurance candidates. Exams will continue to be offered at designated/authorized Pearson VUE test centers in and outside the state of Florida. Previously scheduled OnVUE exams through March 31 will be honored.
5. Apply for a License
   • Submit a license application to the Department online at www.MyFloridaCFO.com/Division/Agents and click on MyProfile upon successful completion of the examination. You must apply for your license application within 12 months of passing the state exam.
6. Status Notification
   • Once an application has been submitted, you may check your MyProfile account for the status of your application. Deficiencies will be listed under the pending license type.

• Per Florida PLE requirements, applicants are required to complete all of the lessons in the pre-license education course sequentially before they can be issued a certificate of completion.
• Students must pass the closed-book Exam Prep Course Certification exam with a score of 70% or higher. Applicants will be required to complete an online affidavit at the end of the course stating the applicant understands the course examination must be completed unassisted by any person, by the course materials, or by other materials.
• If the final exam is not passed on the first attempt, students have an unlimited number of retakes.

Effective immediately, the Florida Department of Financial Services no longer requires a Letter of Clearance to process a license transfer from a previous resident state to Florida. Additionally, applicants are not required to relinquish their resident license in their previous state before applying. Instead, applicants will be reminded during the application process to cancel their previous resident license or convert it to a non-resident license within 30 days after obtaining the Florida resident license. This change is expected to result in a more efficient license transfer process to Florida.

To qualify for a license based on the transfer of license option, an applicant must meet all of the following requirements:

• Become a resident of Florida.
• Has held a valid resident license with the equivalent line of authority for one (1) continuous year prior to applying for a license in Florida.
• Submit the application for the license and pay the appropriate fees within 90 days of becoming a resident of Florida.
