What are the Insurance Exam Prep education requirements for Alaska?
Alaska does not require licensing candidates to complete prelicensing education; however, it is recommended to complete an exam prep course before attempting to take your state’s licensing exam.
How to get an insurance license in Alaska
Meet the general eligibility criteria

Submit fingerprints
Alaska requires all resident insurance licensing candidates be fingerprinted prior to submitting a license application.
Only the Anchorage testing center offers fingerprints: to make a fingerprint reservation you will need to schedule online with Pearson VUE.
The fingerprint reservation is a separate appointment from the exam appointment; however, it should be at the same location/same time of your insurance examination. Anchorage test takers must schedule an insurance examination appointment with Pearson VUE prior to contacting IdentoGo® by Idemia for the fingerprint appointment. You MUST have a Fingerprint appointment prior to arriving at the Anchorage Test Center.
If you are testing in any one of the other AK test centers, please contact your local department of Public Safety to have your fingerprints taken.

WebCE suggests students pass the closed-book non-monitored Exam Prep Practice exam with a score of 70% or higher and then utilize Exam Tutor and Flash Tutor for further practice before your exam day.
What is the access period for WebCE Alaska Insurance Exam Prep courses?

How often does WebCE report Alaska Insurance Exam Prep course completions?
WebCE does not report exam prep course completions as the Alaska Division of Insurance does not require course completions to be reported.
Does WebCE supply a certificate of completion for Alaska Insurance Exam Prep courses?
Online PDF certificates of completion are available to print immediately after passing the WebCE course exam. Certificates are for personal records and is not required for the state exam.
What is the process to transfer an insurance license to Alaska?
Candidates moving to Alaska wishing to qualify for an Alaska license without taking an examination must meet the following requirements:
Held a resident license in another state and within 90 days of termination of previous home state license, apply for a license for the same line of authority
A letter of clearance may be required if Alaska is unable to verify your change in a resident state through the NAIC State Producer Licensing Database.
What is the process to obtain a non-resident insurance license in Alaska?
Non-residents may apply by reciprocity and are exempt from the examination requirement, as long as they are currently licensed as a resident and in good standing in their home state.
Are there any Alaska insurance product specific training requirements?
Before selling, soliciting or negotiating the following products, insurance license holders are required to complete the training outlined below. These training hours can be used toward the total CE hours required to renew the license.
Annuity Training
State required training for insurance producers that sell annuity products.
Initial Training Hours: 4 Frequency: One-time training must be complete prior to selling annuity products.
State required training for insurance producers that sell long-term care products.
Initial Training Hours: 8 Frequency: One-time training must be complete prior to selling LTC products.
Ongoing Training Hours: 4 Frequency: Ongoing training must be completed every license period, following the completion of the initial training requirement.
