What are the Real Estate Continuing Education requirements for Illinois?

Broker

12 hours total

Managing Broker

24 hours total

Residential Leasing Agent

8 hours total

Note: Brokers receiving their initial broker license must complete 45 hours of post-license education during their first license term. If an individual receives the initial broker license within 180 days preceding the first broker renewal deadline, the broker must complete 45 hours of post-license education prior to the second broker renewal deadline. WebCE does not currently offer post-licensing courses for Illinois.

  • Mandatory Core: 4 CE hours
  • Sexual Harassment Prevention Training: 1 CE hour

  • Residential Leasing Agent CORE: 8 CE hours including 1 hour of Sexual Harassment Prevention training.

Can Real Estate CE courses be repeated?

Courses cannot be repeated more than once in a 2 year license term.

Can Real Estate CE course hours carry over to the next renewal cycle?

Excess credit hours may not be carried forward to the next license term.

What is the Illinois Real Estate license renewal process?

The Online License Renewal Portal opens approximately 90 days prior to the renewal deadline. Renewal instructions will be emailed to you around that time. This notice will include a unique PIN number necessary to renew online. If you did not receive a renewal notice, you may also access your renewal application using your social security number and date of birth on the Online License Renewal Portal.

What are the WebCE Illinois Real Estate CE course requirements?

  • WebCE courses are classified as distance education.
    Important Notice: No more than 12 hours worth of CE can be completed in a 24 hour period.
  • Students will not be able to complete the course until the student’s time in the course equals the number of approved credit hours for the course.
  • Students must read the course material and answer each set of end-of-chapter quizzes with a score of at least 75%.
  • If end-of-chapter quizzes are not passed on the first attempt, students have an unlimited number of retakes.

How often does WebCE report Illinois Real Estate CE course completions?

Every business day to the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR). It may take up to 2 days before you see the credits post.

Does WebCE supply a certificate of completion for Illinois Real Estate CE courses?

Online PDF certificates of completion are available to print immediately once the course is completed.

What are the Illinois Real Estate CE requirements for non-residents?

Non-residents must meet Illinois requirements. If licensees earn CE credit hours in another state or territory for which they will claim credit toward compliance in Illinois, each licensee shall submit an application and a $25 fee, within 90 days after completion of the CE course and prior to expiration of the license. The Department shall review and approve or disapprove the course provided the education provider, course, and delivery method of assessing participation and comprehension are substantially equivalent to those licensed in Illinois.

Are there any CE exemptions?

The following are exempt from Illinois CE requirements:
  • An individual who served in the armed services of the United States during the renewal period.
  • A real estate licensee who is also an active Illinois licensed attorney.
