Illinois Real Estate Education Requirements

Broker and 2nd Subsequent

12 hours of continuing education. Courses must include:
  • 4 hours Mandatory Core
  • 7 hours of Electives
  • 1 hour of sexual harassment prevention training course
Note: Because of the education transition, the DRE will allow brokers renewing their licenses in 2020 to submit either the new 4-hour Mandatory Core CE course and 8 hours of Electives CE format, or the 6-hour Core (Core A and Core B) CE and 6 hours of Elective CE format.

Residential Leasing Agent

  • Residential leasing agents with 7/31/20 renewal dates must take the 6-hour Residential Leasing Agent Core course (NOTE: Due to Covid-19, residential leasing agents have been granted an extension until 9/30/20 to complete this course.)
  • Residential leasing agents who are renewing their licenses for the 7/31/2022 renewal cycle must take the 8-hour Residential Leasing Agent Core course, which includes 1 hour of sexual harassment prevention training.

Managing Broker

24 hours of continuing education. Courses must include:
  • 4 hours of Mandatory Core
  • 7 hours of Electives
  • 1 hour of sexual harassment prevention training course
  • 12 hrs Broker Management (classroom only)
