What are the Real Estate Continuing Education requirements for Tennessee?

Affiliate Brokers or Brokers

16 CE hours total

Note: Tennessee brokers must complete 120 hours of post-licensing education within three years of initial licensure. WebCE does not currently offer post-licensing courses for Tennessee.

Are there any subject area requirements for Tennessee Real Estate CE?

TREC Core: 6 CE hours
Electives: 10 CE hours

When does Tennessee Real Estate CE have to be completed?

Every 2 years on date of original license issue

Can Real Estate CE courses be repeated?

Courses cannot be repeated more than once in a 2 year license term.

Can Real Estate CE course hours carry over to the next renewal cycle?

Excess credit hours may not be carried forward to the next license term.

What is the Tennessee Real Estate license renewal process?

Licensees should renew license on or before expiration date to avoid penalties. Licensees can renew license online using the commission website.

What are the WebCE Tennessee Real Estate CE course requirements?

WebCE courses are classified as online distance education courses.
Students must read the course material and answer each set of end-of-chapter quizzes with a score of at least 60 percent.
Final exams are not required for CE unless the course is over 8 CE hours.
If the end-of-chapter quiz is not passed on the first attempt, students have an unlimited number of retakes.

What is the access period for WebCE Tennessee Real Estate CE courses?

12 months from the original date of purchase, unless otherwise posted on the course description page and student dashboard.

How often does WebCE report Tennessee Real Estate CE course completions?

Online PDF certificates of completion are available to print immediately after the course is completed.

What are the Tennessee Real Estate CE requirements for non-residents?

Non-residents are required to meet Tennessee's continuing education requirements.

Are there any CE exemptions?

The following are exempt from Tennessee CE requirements:

Affiliate Brokers licensed prior to July 1, 1980
Brokers licensed prior to January 1, 2005 who do not supervise any affiliate brokers

Beginning January 1, 2026, “grandfathered” brokers (brokers licensed on or before January 1, 2005), principal brokers that supervise affiliate brokers, and/or brokers must submit sixteen (16) hours of continuing education at license renewal. Previously, “grandfathered” brokers were exempt from completing continuing education. “Grandfathered” principal brokers that do not supervise affiliate brokers and/or brokers remain exempt from completing continuing education. All affiliate brokers licensed on or after July 1, 1980, and all licensees originally issued a broker’s license (principal or otherwise) on or after January 1, 2025, in an active status, are still required to complete continuing education at license renewal.
