Repetition and Carryover

Carryover Allowance

CPAs may only apply CPE successfully completed in the current 3 year reporting period. At the annual renewal, credit can only be claimed for courses completed curing the calendar year being reported.

Repetition Rule

Courses cannot be taken for credit more than once in a 3-year rolling license term.

Exam Rules

The final exam is open-book. Students may refer to the course material as often as needed. If the final exam is not passed on the first attempt, students have an unlimited number of retakes.

Reporting and West Virginia CPA CPE Certificates of Completion

CPA CPE Reporting

WebCE does NOT report CPE course completions to the West Virginia Board of Accountancy. CPAs can report their CPE course completions with their registration renewal.

Newly Licensed: The calendar year in which a CPA were licensed no hours are required. However, they must still turn in the CPE reporting form. The first full calendar year holding a license a CPA must complete 40 hours of CPE. The second full calendar year license is held at least 20 hours of CPE are required. The third full calendar year licensed a CPA must have completed at least 120 hours in the prior 3 calendar years.

Certificates of Completion

WebCE provides online printable certificates of completion. Certificates of completion will be available to print online immediately after the final exam is passed. You should maintain written evidence of completion for a period of 4 years following the completion of each reporting activity.
