What are the Adjuster Exam Prep education requirements for Arizona?

Arizona does not require licensing candidates to complete prelicensing education; however, it is recommended to complete an exam prep course before attempting to take your state’s licensing exam.

How to get an insurance adjuster license in Arizona

There are two ways you can obtain your Arizona adjuster license through WebCE, using our CACP Certification or with an Arizona Adjuster Exam Prep Course. The details for each are outlined below.

CACP Certification

Meet the general eligibility criteria
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Maintain a physical location where business records will be maintained pertaining to transactions under the license.
Complete the required Claims Adjuster Certified Professional (CACP) online certification program with an exam from WebCE
- Once you complete our CACP Course and pass the included exam, you become a member of the Association of Claims Adjuster Certified Professionals. The CACP certification and association membership qualify you for an exemption to the state exam in Arizona. Once complete, you can apply for your license without the required additional coursework or testing.
Submit fingerprints
- Effective Immediately: The Arizona Department of Public Safety has changed the fingerprinting process for DIFI fingerprint submissions. Navigate to the website: https://difi.az.gov/finger-print for information on the correct process to submit your fingerprints.
Apply for a License
- Mail the following items to Arizona Department of Insurance & Financial Institutions, 100 N. 15th Ave., Suite 261, Phoenix, AZ 85007-2630: NAIC AZ Adjuster paper application and a copy of CACP Certificate of Completion or apply online by visiting https://nipr.com/arizona.

Exam Prep Course

Meet the general eligibility criteria
- Be at least 18 years of age.
- Maintain a physical location where business records will be maintained pertaining to transactions under the license
Prepare for state licensing exam
- Use the WebCE Exam Prep courses to better prepare you to pass the state licensing exam.
Register and pass state licensing exam
- PSI Services LLC (PSI) has been selected as the new vendor for administering both pre-licensing examinations and Continuing Education (CE) administration for insurance professionals in Arizona. This transition will take effect on September 1, 2025. PSI registration will begin on August 1st,2025. Please register for your state exam by visiting https://test-takers.psiexams.com/anzins
- Important: You are limited to four attempts to pass an exam for a particular line of authority (LOA) within a 1-year period. After a fourth unsuccessful attempt, you must wait one year from the date of the last attempt to retake the exam.
Submit fingerprints
- Effective Immediately: The Arizona Department of Public Safety has changed the fingerprinting process for DIFI fingerprint submissions. Navigate to the website: https://difi.az.gov/finger-print information on the correct process to submit your fingerprints.
Apply for a License
- Submit your state license application online at www.nipr.com or download Form L-169 and mail it to Arizona Department of insurance.
  Effective September 12, 2026. Arizona law will permit certain salaried employees of an insurer or managing general agent (MGA) to obtain an Arizona adjuster license without taking the Arizona adjuster examination if all the following requirements are met:
  1. Is a resident of Arizona and, before January 1, 2026, held an active designated home state (DHS) license in another state.
  2. Is currently in good standing in the other state.
  3. Submits an application for licensure, the required application fee, and fingerprints as required by law for an adjuster license by June 30, 2027.
  4. Qualified for a DHS license in the other state by passing a state-approved examination.
  A person who is licensed as an adjuster without taking the Arizona adjuster examination may adjust claims only as a salaried employee of an insurer or MGA and may not adjust claims on behalf of an insured or an insurer in any capacity other than as a salaried employee of the insurer or an MGA.
  
  An adjuster license issued under these provisions is valid and renewable only for as long as the person continues to adjust claims as a salaried employee of the insurer or MGA.
  
  A person who wishes to act as or claim to be an adjuster, as defined under Arizona law, must apply for and obtain an adjuster license.

What are the WebCE Arizona Adjuster Exam Prep course requirements?

For either the exam prep course or CACP course:

Applicants must read each lesson before they can proceed to the next lesson.
A 70% is needed to pass the licensing exam, and therefore, students taking the exam prep course should pass their practice exam with a 70% or higher.
CACP Exam Requirements: Students completing the CACP course must pass a closed-book monitored exam with a 70% or higher to receive the certificate of completion. Self-study exams must be monitored by a disinterested 3rd party. Proctors must not serve for examinations of family members, relatives, or dependents; employers or supervisors; employees or subordinates; partners, joint ventures, co-owners, or business associates; or for anyone in whom the proctor or instructor has an economic or other interest in assuring the successful outcome of the examination. Exams may be remotely monitored. Please refer to our Virtual Monitoring Guide for more information.
The exam must be passed with a 70% or higher. Students have an unlimited number of retakes.

What is the access period for WebCE Arizona Adjuster Exam Prep courses?

For either the exam prep course or CACP course:

12 months from the original date of purchase

How often does WebCE report Arizona Adjuster Exam Prep course completions?

WebCE does not report exam prep course completions as the Arizona Department of Insurance does not require course completions to be reported.

Does WebCE supply a certificate of completion for Arizona Adjuster Exam Prep courses?

For exam prep completions:

Online PDF certificates of completion are available to print immediately after passing the WebCE course exam. Certificates are for personal records and is not required for the state exam.

For CACP completions:

Online PDF certificates of completion are available to print immediately after passing the WebCE course exam. Certificates will need to be submitted with application and fingerprints.

What is the process to transfer an insurance license to Arizona?

Submit a license application through NIPR to the Department within 90 days after canceling the resident license in your former state to avoid having to take an Arizona Adjuster exam.

What is the process to obtain a non-resident insurance license in Arizona?

Applicants who wish to obtain an Arizona Non-Resident Adjuster license will need to:

Be in good standing in your home state
Submit Form L-169 to the Arizona Department of Insurance
Pay licensing fees

What does adjuster licensing reciprocity look like in Arizona?

Arizona grants reciprocal licenses to adjusters who are licensed in their home state. Arizona does NOT accept a Designated Home State (DHS) license so you must pass the Arizona state exam if you live in a non-licensing state.
