What are the Adjuster Exam Prep Adjuster Exam Prep requirements for Indiana?

Indiana Department of Insurance requires pre-license education. Applicants must complete 40-hours of pre-license education (PLE) for adjuster license.

How to get an insurance adjuster license in Indiana

Meet the general eligibility criteria
- Be at least 18 years of age.
- Maintain a principal place of residence or a principal place of business in Indiana
- Not have committed any act that is a ground for denial, suspension or revocation of a license

Complete required prelicensing education
- Prepare for the Indiana State Licensing Exam by completing a pre-licensing course of study.
- When making a licensing exam reservation, applicants will be required to present your Certificate of Completion at your licensing exam. After passing the Exam Prep Course Certification Exam, you will be able to download a PDF Certificate of Completion which is valid for one year from the date of completion; you will need to take and pass your state exam within this timeframe.

Register and pass state licensing exam
- Make an exam reservation at https://www.pearsonvue.com/in/insurance or calling (866) 895-0496. Candidates should make a reservation online at least twenty-four (24) hours before the desired examination date.
- Bring one form of current signature identification (a valid driver’s license, non-driver ID, passport, military ID, or employee ID card, credit card) and a copy of your prelicensing education Certificate of Completion on exam day. The prelicensing education Certificate of Completion is valid for six months from the date of completion.

What are the WebCE Indiana Adjuster Exam Prep course requirements?

Per Indiana PLE requirements, applicants are required to complete all of the lessons and answer each set of end-of-chapter quizzes with a score of at least 70 percent prior to taking an closed-book final exam.
Please Note: Pre-license education providers are required to record the actual time the applicant spends in the course and not allow access to the certificate of completion until the applicant's time equals the number of required hours for the LOA.
Students should pass the closed-book final exam with a score of 70% or higher.
If the final exam is not passed on the first attempt, students have an unlimited number of retakes.

What is the process to obtain a non-resident insurance license in Indiana?

An Independent Adjuster works on a contract basis for an insurance carrier doing direct adjudications of claims. Indiana does not require licensure for staff adjusters. An Independent Adjuster license is effective for two (2) years, expiring on the last day of the agent's birth month, unless probated, suspended, revoked, or refused.

Non-resident Independent Adjusters can be licensed in Indiana provided:

The individual is currently licensed in good standing as an Independent Adjuster in the individual's home state or Designated Home State (DHS);

The individual has submitted the proper application for licensure and the non-resident application fee of ninety dollars ($90), unless a retaliatory fee applies; and The individual's home state or DHS awards non-resident Independent Adjuster licenses to residents of Indiana on the same basis. Non-Reciprocal States: CA, HI and NY. California, Hawaii and New York residents must complete an approved Indiana Independent Adjuster pre-licensing education course and the Indiana Independent Adjuster exam.
