This course offers an overview of the OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens standard. It will describe various bloodborne pathogens, such as hepatitis B and HIV/AIDS, and how to effectively prevent transmission. In addition, this course presents signs to look for and how to properly clean and react to a bloodborne pathogen incident if it occurs. Finally, proper recordkeeping techniques are discussed to assure proper compliance.

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

• understand the history of the OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Standard and the requirements it imposes on employers
• recognize proper ways to safeguard against transmission of bloodborne pathogens
• understand how to react appropriately upon the occurrence of a bloodborne pathogens incident
• describe the recordkeeping requirements that must be met to stay in compliance with the law
