This course is supposed to be for Registered Investment Advisors. It seemed more like training for fraud investigators of businesses. I would like to see the course material address situations that are directly related to IARs and the fraud we would see regularly.
The 1st time I took the exam I failed, even thought I took my answers straight from the material. The 2nd time I took the exam I passed, with the exact same answers. Seems odd.
The presentation formate was clear, concise, and professional
There is an error in the summary questions. The answer selections are not correct and need to be fixed.
Questions re: statute numbers are ridiculous. We not only take CE to prove our continued mastery, but also to learn. (continuing education, get it?) Memorizing statute numbers for answers is downright silly.
This is course was very informative and interesting. It allowed me to reassess our internal controls at our church.
One of the more interesting courses have taken
I can't believe how much I enjoyed this course. It is not the type of fraud I will be dealing with being a solo employee in my business, but it was so informative and expanded my view of the world and how fraud acts with in it. I really liked this.
I encountered many of the examples presented in my career.
I liked the first-person narrative, the clear expertise, and the broad coverage. I would like more summation - perhaps tables for each section summarizing and detailing the techniques or examples discussed.
The course was very good at affirming many ways that fraud can be committed and gave many examples. There is some bias against sales people in numerous locations usually expressed as (the top performers are usually doing something wrong, attitude). BS. they are the most skilled and usually have the highest persistency. Finally, why the vague or complex questions? Ask a good question and see if we know the answer; don't try to see if you can cleverly get us to miss a question. That is why myself and I'm sure others don't care about the answers to the questions we missed. We are forced to guess because the question or answers are so vague or poorly written. Oh well, passed anyway but it sucks to miss question which I probably could have answered in context.
I think it might be a helpful refresher to go through more specific examples of assets and liabilities. Maybe more thorough examples of how to compile a statement of financial position given information of a client scenario .
The auditor's personal experiences were invaluable.
Really enjoyed this course. Material was very interesting to read.
The fraud lesson could have been less wordy and half as long.
One hour of credit?
Question 2 did not appear to have a correct answer. Estimated Current Value. Very frustrating.
Really liked course-very interesting stories!
reinforced ideas on auditing.
I did not need the PDF of the course to teach me what an Asset or Liability was. Seemed like it was written for a first-year accounting student.
Thank you
two words repeatedly come to mind when doing these modules: regulatory capture
Question 34 on the exam was poorly worded. ("All of the above" did not make sense as an answer.) Otherwise, course was very good.
This particular course was taught by an expert in the field using real life examples which made the subject matter more interesting.
Excellent Course.
Interesting content! Liked the first hand experience. A little outdated in parts because people don't really use cash anymore.
Great info. Very eye opening!
Course had a lot of repetitive material. Could have been a bit more streamlined.
Very good
Horribly presented. What I thought was a CFP CE class appeared more like a CPA refresher course. More emphasis on regulator codes in IRS book. Next time, focus on the title: PERSONAL FINANCIAL STATEMENTS and less emphasis on citing IRS codes and subchapters.
This was boring. More side by side text to examples would have been more interesting. Otherwise it's a lot of words without meaning.
I love the open book exam
The voice used for audio doesn't know about inflection and mispronounces some words which can be distracting.
Great course on fraud
VERY INFORMATIVE
As always and over 10 years of your education and service is Excellent!! Thank you
Loved the mention of text in white font. I wouldn't of thought of that. Examples were great
Probably the best CE course I have taken in my 15 years' certification. The real world examples showing the concepts was very helpful.
I feel like the information was very repetitive and wordy. I could have gleaned the same information with 1/10 of the content.
Love the format and the audio. Especially pleased that credits are for both my securities license and my CPA continuing education.
Visual affects can be added
N/A The course was very informative.
I didn't think a topic could be made interesting, but this instructor kept my attention through the entire session.
loved it
Took longer than 3 1/2 hours to complete
I enjoyed this course because the material was very interesting
Please continue to offer the course material on pdf format as it is the most efficient way for me to complete my CPE requirements.
Interesting but too long
Questions were irrelevant to the financial industry!!!!!!!!!!!!
I liked all the examples and the laid back style of the course writer.
it takes 5 to 6 hours to do a 3.5hour course. a 3.5 hr credit should take 3,5 hours to complete
I am an audio learner & really appreciate the audio provided during this course.-
Excellent Course for finance professionals to study.
I liked the examples given.
This was likely my favorite course in the last 10 years. I loved the case studies and author's experiences.
The course offers a concise introduction to disclosures for crypto assets, with the original text of the Subtopic.
This course is a standout due to the emphasis of creativity and "attitude" over arcane auditing procedures.
Takes a very long time to complete course. The exam questions are very difficult to answer.
The audio really helps the learning
Would like more information on mining. Mining is mentioned but not included in the Glossary.
Part of required training but did not seem particularly relevant.
This course was interesting but not at all relevant to what I needed for continuing education for my IAR and CFP. I think it has been miscategorized.
while fraud knowledge is extremely important, I didn't see the relevance to the investment industry- could be more industry specific
each question weight too much for 1 credit hour class, make it easy to fail the test.
This course was not only poorly written but so unrelated to my job that I wondered if it was assigned to me in error.
this content really does not apply to IAR's
The personal stories were not necessary.
great course, great learning on this
Thank you!
have used your company for many years. every rep has been knowledgable and polite. phonbes are answered quickly , all good..thank you
THIS COURSE HAD VERY LITTLE TO DO WITH THE FINANCIAL INDUSTRY I AM INVOLVED IN.
I did not like the first person style of the material. It seemed wordy and could be made more concise.
Although Fraud has a place in our Continuing Education none of this was pertinent to being a Sales Assistant in the financial industry. Most of it was for the retail sector.
We were required to obtain 6.0 hours of CE. the first course I requested was 3.5 hours due to the interesting topic. But there are no 2.5 hour courses to round out. Still, that is a small thing but something to consider.
long/intense/learned a lot
I was excited about the topic but it was not what i expected. I felt it was more of an overview on general fraud instead of being more industry specific.
Intuitive. Straight-forward.
Very well written content directly from the horse's mouth. This auditor has seen it all and it shows! Real life examples are always the best teachers. Thanks for the great course!
Good course. Great examples. A lot of reading, but that's the life of a CPA sometimes.
Course with the Read it to me option took far too long. Content was very good, but it can be done more efficiently.
i thought this course was way too long
The sample personal financial statements and notes were very informative in presenting and illustrating the course material.
The AI voice lulls me to sleep. The content is good, but I kept dozing off. Adding some videos or other delivery methods would be helpful, too.
Thanks for all the live examples and would like to see more
I love the fact that the author lists lots of live examples to illustrate his points. Very well written & well thought for his sharing of his past work experiences as well as the court cases.
Very detailed examples made understanding helpful.
It would be very helpful to have an actual person read the content rather than an AI Bot. The bots lack of intonation, appropriate pauses and pronunciation at times makes it very hard to focus on what is being said.
Of the courses taken so far in this cycle, this course was the most challenging and intriguing. I really enjoyed it.
I like your course packages and they are affordable. However, your courses are always very dense and difficult to "digest." What I mean is, all paragraphs are so information-heavy. I was an A student in college and have an above-average IQ; even so, after 1 hour of reading your material, it becomes too much to absorb. As a result, many times it all starts to sound like gibberish and I can't appreciate what I just learned, as I can barely remember 20-10% of it.
You need to be an FBI agent, IRS agent, Psychologist, optometrist, neurologist, auditor and an accountant to pass these CE requirements. All I want to be is a Financial Advisor
I haven't had to deal with this subject a lot in my career, so I really appreciated the in depth coverage.
I copied and pasted all of the footnote for further inquiry. They should be included in the PDF. Really enjoyed the material. Thank you.
I would like to see more practice questions.
I rated the "recommend" question an 8 because I actually WOULD recommend it, but the likelihood of discussing the topic with a colleague is low, since I am low-man-on-the-pole and others probably make other learning choices.
This course material was too technical for the objective.
This is probably the best course I have taken on WebCE and I have taken dozens over the year. Very well presented and covered a wide variety of potential issues on fraud.
This course was excellent! I appreciated (1) the engaging writing style, (2) the practical concrete recommendations about procedures to put in place to catch fraud, and (3) most of all the many anecdotes about specific instances of documented fraud (clear and memorable!) So many CE courses look like AI just rearranged info from the Series exams: nothing new, not even particularly coherent. This was a refreshing exception!
I would have wanted a class more relevant to what we do on a daily basis.
I wish you credited the author. This particular course was VERY well-written. I'm a lawyer by background, and fraud detection and prevention is not something I have experience with. I was bracing myself for several hours of boredom but was very pleasantly surprised. I laughed a lot - man, humans!
Questions were hard to understand. Had to read some more than once.
The course was practical and well-written.
I really enjoyed learning about something that might help me in my own business and in advising clients to be on the look out in their businesses.
I prefer face to face educational training.,
I found this course irrelevant for a CFP review
I love the voice over option. It is a very good retention tool.
I know compliance courses are typically very dry but this one kept my rapt attention. It was written from the perspective of someone that has been in the business of fraud detection for many years. That direct experience really showed through in the writing and kept my attention. Main issue for me is how long the course was. I have been going through the material in 1-hour blocks once per week, so it took a while for me to complete. The material was great though, and I would recommend it to my colleagues.
Very interesting if I was to go into the Fraud Prevention arena but I am in financial arena and we have more specific training, for example Money laundering. This was interesting as I said and informative. I did learn from it.
Material was relevant and comprehensive.
well presented
Text didn't seem formatted appropriately; either too big to git on screen or too small to read. Very frustrating.
Practice questions are very useful.
WebCE for me is always highest quality
There was some good story-telling, but it was hard to stay focused later in the course due to length. Some sections were very relevant to my role and others were distractingly far from my role. I would recommend finding ways to break this training out for different types of industry roles. Applicable and practical content will be more impactful and engaging.
thank you
Surprisingly useful and informative course - the instructor demonstrated his love and mastery of the subject matter.
This course was excellent. It was written very well.
In my opinion, the discussion in "6.5--False Vendors", in which the author dismisses pressure as a necessary element of fraud, represents a flawed understanding--and mischaracterization--of the fraud triangle.
Excellent course! No improvement needed!
Sounds like a marine wrote the fraud detection course, oo-rah! Fantastic course, and well written.
This type of Fraud does not apply to the Financial Industry
course has many personal anecdotes, It may be helpful in making it more interactive but I feel like it could be shortened by a great amount of time if the information was presented in a straightforward manner without a bunch of personal references and anecdotes. Some of the anecdotes were helpful, but should probably be defined as examples in list form, that part was helpful. but, reading it in a story format does help.
I liked the many examples of fraud that were presented in the course. This heightened my awareness of what to look out for when experiencing fraud situations.
graphic inserts weren't really graphics or illustrations, they were more text . restatements really.
This course is mainly focused on issues outside my financial advisor role. I expected material to help my clients avoid or detect fraud
3 hours of CE credit should not mean 6 hours of reading!
Stories and anecdotes; nothing more
Great course for any financial professional, especially those interested in Fraud Risk Management and Accounting principles.
Should include more modern-day examples of how frauds are committed in the current hi-tech environment and electronic processing of transactions.
The overall course was basic in nature. It didn't appear to be built around Investment Advisors and potential fraud they might encounter.
I have taken many courses through WebCE. This one was thorough and educational. It was also nicely constructed as far as being interesting with good flow. However, it was about three times too long. The same points could have been made in much less read time. Remember, this is one of many CE courses required. Just being honest. Thanks
It was great!
This course was the most informative information that I have received in quite some time. It was also very interesting. It has changed how I look at fraud.
great course
This course was way too technical for my purposes. This was more like what a CPA would need to study. It was good thing the test was very big picture.
Informative course.
The content was unneccessarily wordy and long. To keep it succinct would have been an improvement.
not a great topic.
This course was totally inappropriate for a financial advisor. It was not what I expected. It was more appropriate for a business class.
In addition to being helpful, it was actually entertaining. Nice surprise. Maybe this helped me get 100%.
Engaging. Very well written.
It was mostly stories; seemed more appropriate for someone who was actually an accountant; some questions were confusing - ex. which statement would not be true, etc. it was boring b/c it was story after story after story...
Easy of use & Quality of content is excellent. Thank you.
Good course with real life examples
Good Course - a little long but The CE requirements require more material.
Very interesting content.
you ask a financial planner to take a class on auditing a shoe company? wth?
Course seems geared towards management, auditors, and accountants more than financial advisors/planners. It really isn't very relevant to normal financial advisor situations
It was a very good course. thank you
Read-it-to-me-audio is distractingly robotic. It contains multiple instances of mispronunciations and pauses that are lacking or inappropriate.
timely glad you added
i liked that the content was written from a real-world perspective. the stories made it more interesting & easier to stay engaged in the content.
This course lacked significant relevance to my industry and the author constructed course content far too much around himself/his experience.
Course was definitely too high level and intricate for a 1 hour credit. Very technical.
I really liked the examples.
Good practical course with excellent examples of disclosures from well recognized SEC companies.
This course was very interesting and well written.
Poorly written. It reads like something a lawyer would write, i.e. written in such an exacting way that its assertions cannot be challenged, rather than written in such a clear way so that it easy to learn from. Also, it would have been better if began, continued, and ended with a sample (or multiple sample) of the statements throughout. Fortunately, the sample statements were finally introduced in the end, but the course would have been better if the whole thing were written against a framework of easy-to-follow and typical personal financial statements.
Excellent course, well done.
Not good. Unclear, and not helpful. Keep it to the real world for us planners.
I like this author’s use of real fraud cases to explain or emphasize a point.
good course
The historical fact based examples of fraud were very helpful and relevant. These examples increased my awareness far more than just reviewing concepts of fraud. Thank you!
Wonderfully helpful in understanding fraud. A helpful hint for improvement: The narratives could be written more clearly. I found some of the sentence structures to be somewhat awkward and forgive me for being picky. I appreciate the knowledge you are sharing with us. :)
I studied finance, been a financial advisor for many years, now a relatinship manager in wealth management, and I have never seen firms or advisors prepare a statement of changes in NetWorth. I've always understood the importance of "why you want to continue growing your NetWorth" but to clearly see a breakdown of what contributes and what decreases was fantastic. Thank you!
This course was not what i thought it would be and though it met the requirements was not easy for me to pass
Very good real-life examples. Chapters covered a lot of relevant and diverse areas. A high-quality course.
Outstanding course material, examples extremely helpful. Read as if it were a great non-fiction book
I think this course could be improved by being rewritten in clearer, simpler language, instead of relying on the technical-language quotation sections utilized so frequently in this course.
This class was not what I expected. It was full of unhelpful regulation numbers and no real information and poorly presented. This is the first disappointing class from webce.
I choose WebCE because the courses are easy to navigate, and CE credits are reported in a timely manner. Thank you for making this process easy!
This course has no business for inclusion in the offerings for CFP licensee's. Rather it belongs in offerings for CPA's. Crediting only one hour for the course is ridiculous, based on the amount of time and energy required to absorb the material
Making the course much more readable would be great. I felt like I was reading straight up tax code at times, which made the material very dry.
Know the Rule # is not important. Knowing the rule itself is important.
The PDF was not very helpful. I could not find most of the answers.
EXCELLENT!
This is the best course on fraud that I have ever taken ! I loved it, and the author of the course is absolutely superb !
Fantastic fraud examples and material
THIS WAS AN EXCELLENT COURSE / THANKS
The course material was well organized, detailed, and clear. The visual aids were extremely helpful as examples to illustrate the concepts discussed.
A FINANCIAL IS SIMPLY ASSETS MINUS LIABILITIES EQUALS NET WORTH ( NOT ALL THE NUMBERS OF THE VARIOUS LAWS )
I like the approach of Asset TV and the folks at Gleim where you have a short lecture than exercise questions and the ability to go back and see what you got wrong. I like to learn from CEU not just try to complete the annual requirements. Especially each year as I get older I need good material to help me focus on new topics and refresh my memory about old ideas.
It seems that there could be some more creative/visual ways to present this material.
Very happy with the material and content. Thank you.
The exam questions were ridiculous. No CFP needs to know the section of the IRS code related to financial statements. It can be looked up. This course was ridiculous.
The information on valuation and disclosure was very helpful.
WebCE is a great resource for cost-effective completion of CFP CE credits. However this course on Preparing Personal Financial Statements is full of Legalese gobbledegook and is outdated not practical and not applicable. There are other similar courses that are easier to understand and can be used in day to day practice. I recommend deleting this course from webce and revamp please!
This course did nothing to help an actual financial planner create financial statements for clients. It appears to have been written by someone who knows absolutely nothing about financial statements and financial planning. Focusing on the ASC topic numbers and similar useless information vs. focusing on actual personal financial statements and why we should use them for clients seems like a complete miss.
Good illustrations of personal financial statement preparation and disclosures.
Course material, adequate quantity, clearly explained and questions appropriated worded. Thank you.
