Overview

Bloodborne pathogens are infectious microorganisms in human blood that can cause disease. Funeral professionals must comply with OSHA’s Bloodborne Pathogens standard and develop an exposure control plan (bloodborne pathogen program) designed to minimize or eliminate employee exposure to bloodborne pathogens.

This course offers an overview of the OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Standard. This course will describe the various bloodborne pathogens, present signs to look for, and inform funeral professionals how to properly clean and react to a bloodborne pathogen incident if it occurs. Finally, proper recordkeeping techniques are discussed to assure proper compliance.
