This course examines the ethical issues encountered during the sales process when marketing insurance and financial products to seniors. Seniors represent a vibrant and rewarding sector of the insurance and financial planning market, and financial professionals should understand and be able to adapt their marketing and sales efforts to the unique needs and goals of this consumer group.
Designed For:
Adding additional credit may change exam requirements.
Please provide a better search for reviewing chapter information during the exam. PDFs are horrible.
Misuse of some terms, ie. graphic material usually means bloody, gory or sexual material. Not something that have a graph in it. I had to look up multiple words in the dictionary, which is very rare for me. The wordage was difficult to follow, causing me to reread in order to figure out meaning. Was this AI written, by chance?
I put the time into this couse and took all the mini exams but I did not realize that there would be an extensive final exam on this course. Also, the course locked me in at 99% complete and I could not get to 100%...I guess the 1% was for the final exam.
It would be nice to have a real voice instead of a computerized one
great course
great class
I appreciated the case studies re: seniors w/functional cognitive issues; and resolutions.
The course was very well written and gives a clear outline for the questions asked and the answers provided. 10/10
I particularly liked the philosophical discussion of Ethics at the beginning of the course. Thanks.
I liked this exam I felt it was easy to take and navigate!
The cost was a little high.
The State timing requirement is riduculious!
Sufficient coverage of the relevant issues without being too exhaustive with unnecessary content.
Excellent material. Thank you.
The insurance content is overwhelming for IAR course.
Frustrating to complete a 21-minute section and it only advances the course 2%. Other than that everything was fine.
The read-it-to-me audio feature was extremely helpful for me.
Great and simple to understand
I like the ability to move at my own pace.
Liked course format with good examples .
The audio component and the content of the exam. Thank you.
The material seemed to be a rework of an existing insurance ethics course. The specific information which pertained to "Senior Market Sales Ethics" was limited. For example a description of an appropriate sales brochure was provided. Then later for a senior focused sales brochure the basic difference was that a larger font should be used. I did not like this course.
The questions on this exam were not well written.
I like the common sense approach to this material.
Very informative and provides grounding for those of us even in the business for a long time.
good content
I had used Kaplan last year and the material was awful. This first course I took (need 23 more credit hours) was easy to use and navigate. I did not use the audio...I read faster than they talk.
Broken up into manageable sections
The website was very confusing about trying to figure out what courses can be double downed and also if I have taken them in the pass. I should easily be able to figure out if I have done them in the past.
It didn't give as much focus on the senior aspects of ethics as I would have expected.
Final exam questions were worded awkwardly
I enjoyed the content, and it made me remember a lot of information i learned earlier in my profession. Great information.
speaker was a little fast
In comparing this course to may others I have completed, I did not enjoy the material. I understand the importance of teaching the material, I just didn't enjoy the way the material was presented. It was a very long course and feel improvements can be made.
Very informative!
I don't use the auto play and prefer reading myself
Include more random Practice Test Questions
The test is too long
This was my first time taking CE classes. It was very straightforward and easy to understand.
Simplifying some of the explanations is suggested; ACTUALLY PROVIDING THE WEBSTER DEFINITION of some of the terms and referencing them as well. Course good but too long and slightly biased with certain phrases again elderly,. please review that. NOT all older people are cognitively impaired and please reference the statements on cognitive impairment that you use.
it would be so great if there could be a notification when nearing the time out. I listen to the content while working on mindless tasks but if I am not paying attention to the timer, the course logs me out. I'm not techie but it would be ice to have a scroll down reminder
Course provided helpful and relevant content on ethical behavior engaging with senior market.
Exams questions could be clearer.
WebCE is the only choice for continued CE that I will use! The different subjects available along with the varied hours of CE make learning fun and interesting. Thank you, WebCE!
Great outline.
The Scenarios help understand the material in real world examples.
Exc course. However it seemed more relevelant to an insurance professional.
very interesting testing. made it fun.
I really like the ability to download a copy of the course text to both study, and to have for reference in the future. Please consider allowing that.
The AI voice enunciates clearly, but gets difficult to track with no well placed pauses or emphasis.
I believe the content is a little repetitive and learner better served with case study types experiences to reinforce concepts/principles, etc
seems too long
Your course and layout were great. Feedback to the requirements would be an unnecessary waste of time. Perhaps individuals should be required for the first 5 or 10 years, or every 5 or 10 years, but certainly useless after that. If you are able to pass along to the governing bodies.
Still takes too long for the amount of CE given.
there are some typos in the course
Very interesting course.
The whole IAR thing bit me and some of the past ethics hours completed were not counted. I'm sure it was my fault for overlooking it but I would have appreciated more flags and highlight telling me if I don't check a box I'll be doing this for nothing. Thank you!
Course was well presented and understandable.
Thank you for providing the opportunity to review incorrect answers at the end of the exam, I found it very helpful.
It was very clear and the read it to me feature was really great!
examples with advisors and client situations very clear and helpful
Practice questions are very helpful to confirm understanding of each section prior to moving forward in the course.
Excellent course!
Please include information on whether the course qualifies for ChFC CE credits (not just CFP) in the description.
Courses are Cost efective
Depends upon there are additional courses I can take to satisfy the CE requirements I face as an IAR.
very good courses
One response required for a question seems a bit off?
I like the course work, but the monitor process is complicated
I like the read-it-to-me aspect. I would like to see more health-insurance related examples and scenarios.
I thought the wording of the questions were terrible.
Larger print?
Finding proctors can be challenging
The course was repetitive and could have easily been shortened. The scenarios presented were too obvious in the answer; more challenging examples would be beneficial.
I do not handle financial investments in any way but I thought the course was heavy in that area.
it was fine but still don't think it should take that long to do.
Good course. Exam had repeat questions though
Scrolling happens very fast!
Easy to understand; can easily navigate through the content without confusion.
Easy to sign up and take the exam
Very informative continuing education subject and content!
I received two of the identical question, with just a name changed. I think the course and questions were unnecessarily repetitive; the length of both could have been shortened while preserving the pertinent information.
This approach makes it easy for me to complete my required CE hours in a timely manner. Thank you!
clear direction on where to find courses was lacking a bit. othwerwise, all good!
I feel a little more time should be provided for completing the course work; roughly 20 minutes more.
The first section of this material was very difficult to get through. It felt as though it was written by a college philosophy professor and was overly theoretical. I generally like philosophical discussions, but that first portion of the course made my head throb.
I like the examples.
The reader was articulate but -- he read words instead of reading "ideas".
Too many insurance examples
NA - The material and presentation of the material within was excellent.
Love that WebCE allows me to print out the study material. I like to read and highlight!
Course too long and redundant
the audio cut out part of the way through - saving and returning did not fix the issue - leaving the site and returning did
Very educational. Very professional .Great Course!!!!
Seemed a bit longer than it needed to be
The course was "Senior Market Sales Ethics" but it seemed pretty light on the topic. Too much of the basic stuff.
the website does not show if a course will be accepted by the IAR, so I needed to call your support to have them look for courses that will be accepted by the IAR
You could add a few more case studies
More interactive material
Two or three of the questions in the final exam were confusing and could have been worded more clearly
Well designed with quality information...
Everything was explained great.
Better worded questions to specific ideas
The information is good, but is very bland and boring. There needs to be more videos, scenarios, etc instead of just lengthy reading
The text seemed unnecessarily lengthy. At least one of the test questions was difficult to understand, by reason of its poor wording.
I liked the fact that I could go back and review all the previous sections.
This was a comprehensive ethics course. The only minor issue was that the read-it-to-me function blanked out a couple of times, but was restored at the beginning of the next section.
1.75 speed would be nice
The examples were well stated and believable.
Well constructed.
Writing was frequently stilted and occasionally nonsensical. Not easy to read or absorb.
Thorough materials and thoughtful examples.
In my opinion, as a selling professional, the courses were were overly detailed.
The terms used were very understandable. Thank you!
oral reading helps
Actually learned a LOT in this new course!
Could not figure out how to have this CE also count toward my Life & Health - website was not clear
Logical flow of information presented.
Redundancy of presented material. I do realize that you have requirements when presenting materials. I don't know if you have a minimum amount of material to present based on the number of credits.
Too many exam questions. Too long to complete.
Easy to read & understand
I would like to review the questions I got wrong.
WebCE courses are generally above the level offered by several competitors (IMO). For this course regarding insurance sales in the senior market, I was "not impressed" with the use of a Latin phrase "caveat vendor", as opposed to "caveat emptor"- I doubt that the demographics of those entering or becoming insurance sales professionals includes a background in Latin (just not taught in public schools anymore and a trend I have noticed in dictionaries, including those aimed at collegiate markets, is not to include the origins of the words or phrases. I found this to be ironic in this course where we are intended to become more aware of the need to meet clients at their level and explain terminology, etc. The course examples were predominantly financial life products in the scenarios, etc. I do believe that producers can have significant issues and increased liability when offering these products, so it's not a bad way to go, but this is an ethics course for serving a specific demographic and I would have welcomed more scenarios that involved other types of products. Overall, the course was enjoyable and I give high KUDOS to the inclusion of a glossary and the intended review of terms such as churning, twisting, etc. Especially for new producers, this is important for them to remember and recognize illegal or unethical practices, especially when a field trainer assigned to them may have slipped into an unethical norm. Over the decades I have relicensed, few courses do a level of review of terms learned in pre-licensing and I have learned to appreciate those that do and tend to seek out classes where "the basics" are reviewed (even if only as questions to be answered in a quiz). Thanks for reading this, while I have continued my license throughout two decades of working for state government, I am now contemplating appointing again in retirement. I am pleased to see that this author sees a growing trend to best practices for each potential customer, it's not all about sales, it's about dignity and inclusion and ethical practices. Hooray!
Excellent course! I thoroughly enjoyed it. Thank you!
would like to have the course in a pdf format in order to highlight material and use for reference in the future.
When I asked to "see" the question that i got wrong, it showed it to me but I was unable to discern the actual correct answer. How is that helpful?!
Excellent course. Just what I needed.
This content seemed outdated.
Thanks for the read it to me option!!!!
Good course!
THE COURSE WAS EASY TO UNDERSTAND & NAVIGATE
When reading a Scenario, I often forget who is who. It would be helpful if a picture of a face is next to a name that I can see throughout reading and going through the scenario.
Very good content, easy to understand and very important information.
the audio was very dry
I appreciate being able to "test out" of the course material by taking the exam first, without being required to review the course material before accessing the exam. Thank you.
IAR Ethics course options were never clarified by employer or NASSA. When I got to your site, hard to find that area. Also, never told SEC needed all these done by the 12th until last FRIDAY!!! Yikes. This is first year of IAR new courses. Next year will be better hopefully. THank you
The previous course that I took, the audio automatically started each time I went to the next page. I checked the settings and desired to have the same thing with this one. However, each time I moved to the next screen I had to manually start the audio.
Good course
make it easier to determine if a course qualifies for credit if previously taken. had to look for information and ultimately needed to call customer service.
I disliked the audio - the narrator was very monotone and unnatural. I turned it off and just read teh content myself.
very clear information given.
