Flood Insurance for Commercial Property: An Enhanced Flood Course (NY)

Far too many commercial property owners who experience a flood loss have never purchased flood insurance.  Fortunately, this is changing with the increasing availability of private flood insurance and the introduction of standard ISO flood insurance forms and endorsements, which can either complement or replace the coverage available from the National Flood Insurance Program.

This course examines the types of flood insurance available from private insurers through a difference-in-conditions (DIC) policy; an endorsement to Insurance Services Office, Inc. (ISO) commercial property forms; or a stand-alone ISO flood policy.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
  • describe key elements and coverage of the NFIP
  • describe the flood coverage available in a difference in conditions (DIC) policy
  • explain the flood coverage provided by a commercial property form with the flood coverage endorsement (CP 10 65)
  • explain the basic and optional coverages provided by the ISO commercial flood policy (FC 00 01)
  • describe the endorsements that can be used to modify an ISO commercial flood policy
  • explain how coverage between two types of flood policies can be coordinated
