Medicare Coordination with Employer Health Plans

  • distinguish among the various Medicare enrollment periods: when and how each is available
  • recognize correct applications of primary vs. secondary payer, and the conditions that are applicable to each
  • recognize the rule and practicalities related to the intersection between Medicare and continued health coverage provided under COBRA
  • identify the rules governing the relationship between Medicare and health savings accounts (HSAs), and the potential pitfalls if the rules regarding their interaction are not followed
