2024-2025 Current Issues in Washington Residential Real Estate

Overview

Every two years, the Washington State Department of Licensing  and Washington State Real Estate Commission release a set Current Issues (CORE) curricula specifically designed to provide a mandated three-hour legislative, legal, and business practices update for real estate professionals. This course examines recent contract revisions, new legislation that's applicable to real estate professionals, and best business practices for ensuring professionalism and personal safety. 

This course satisfies the Washington State three-hour core requirement for license renewal in 2024-2025.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:

  • discuss recent updates to common NWMLS forms, including Evidence of Funds and Inspection Addendum
  • identify new forms that became effective in 2023 including Notice of Termination--Information Verification Period, Notice of Low Appraisal, and Notice of Appraisal Work Order
  • explain recent changes to the Agency Law Pamphlet
  • summarize recent legislation and its impact on licensees' daily real estate activities
  • illustrate the professional courtesies that licensees are encouraged to follow during transactions
  • list the responsibilities of designated brokers and managing brokers
  • discuss the benefits and pitfalls of multiple offer scenarios
  • summarize risky practices for listing brokers and buyer's brokers in an abundant market
  • describe top violations by brokers and how to avoid such acts
