Texas Legal Update II

Overview

In this mandatory four-hour course, licensees will learn about agency relationships and communication issues that could result in antitrust violations. They will also learn about disclosure forms such as the Information About Brokerage Services (IABS) form and the Consumer Protection Notice. The course then covers the basics of representing veterans and military service members by utilizing the VA loan program and the Texas Veteran Land Board Program. Finally, licensees will learn about the Texas Real Estate Commission (TREC) complaint process, exploring common complaints and how to prevent problems before they arise.

Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:

  • summarize how agency relationships are created in Texas
  • explain how to avoid antitrust law violations
  • recite key information on the Information About Brokerage Services (IABS) form
  • recognize acceptable methods of delivery and posting of the Consumer Protection Notice
  • identify when a license holder must disclose a criminal incident
  • describe requirements of the VA loan program

  • identify best practices to prevent complaints against license holders
  • summarize TREC's advertising compliance program

Texas Real estate licensees who must take the 4-hour Legal Update II course each license cycle as part of their 18 hours of continuing education. This course fulfills that requirement.
