Learning Objectives
Upon conclusion of this course, students will be able to:
- Understand the roles the Department of Financial Services, the Chief Financial Officer, the Office of Insurance Regulation, and the Office of Financial Regulation play in regulating the state's insurance industry
- Describe the licensing requirements for adjusters, including appointment with insurers, grounds for suspension or revocation of an adjuster's license or appointment, and the duties of licensed versus unlicensed personnel
- Understand the requirements for advertising and recordkeeping
- Understand the methods the Department of Financial Services uses to communicate with adjusters
- Understand the broad ethical duties an adjuster owes to insureds and insurers and the types of behavior prohibited by the Code of Ethics
- Describe unfair methods of competition and unfair or deceptive acts as they pertain to adjusting property and casualty losses
