IRMI on Homeowners: Liability Coverages -- CLEQ


Homeowners face a number of loss exposures, including loss exposures concerning premises, personal activities, some contracts, and some incidental coverages arising from liability, particularly relating to personal liability and medical payments.  This course provides insight into liability coverages provided under common homeowners forms and addresses Section II, which covers many of the personal liability loss exposures. The two main areas—personal liability and medical payments to others—are addressed in detail.

Upon completion, students will be able to:

  • explain the basis of legal liability and the way in which homeowners insurance functions to protect insureds from the financial consequences of that liability
  • differentiate between personal liability and “medical payments to others” coverages
  • identify all of the various personal liability and medical payments exclusions
  • identify the 10 conditions applicable to liability coverage
