IRMI on Homeowners: Covered Perils -- CLEQ

Course Description
This course, “Introduction to Homeowners Covered Perils,” is one of a three-course series focusing primarily on the 2000 edition of the Insurance Services Office, Inc. (ISO) Homeowners 3 Special Form (HO 3), since this is one of the most commonly-used forms. Although many insurers use their own homeowners forms, most of these are patterned closely to the ISO forms because the ISO language is court tested, rates are easier to develop, and state approval processes are quickened. This course focuses on the covered perils section of the Homeowners 3 Special Form. The objectives for this course include an understanding of the following.

  1. All risks approach to the dwelling and other structures, and named perils approach to personal property.
  2. All eight exclusions applicable to dwellings and other structures.
  3. All 16 named perils for personal property including restrictions within these perils.
