A company's statement of cash flows provides information to many stakeholders—lenders, stockholders, vendors, customers, and other market participants. The cash flow statement details crucial aspects of a company's cash position, thereby indicating how it will meet its cash obligations to pay for such expenses as bank loans and taxes and to fund its investments.
ASC Topic No. 230, Statement of Cash Flows, prescribes the principles and requirements of cash flow reporting. This course explains classifications of cash. That is, past cash transactions are presented in terms of whether they are inflows and outflows, and they are disclosed in the three main types of a company's activities: operating, financing, and investing. Whether new to financial services or a seasoned practitioner, the student will learn the form and content of presentation and the rules related to disclosure.
The course integrates important ASUs affecting Topic 230.
