Overview

"Who represents whom" is a concept involved in every real estate transaction in which a New York real estate licensee is involved. This quick one-hour course provides a "nuts and bolts" practical agency rules refresher to the student.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this course, a student should be able to:

  • differentiate between a client and a customer is in a real estate transaction
  • explain the most popular types of agency agreements used in New York
  • explain how licensees create a dual agency relationship with an in-house sale
  • recognize the importance of informed consent in a dual agency transaction
  • describe the limited responsibilities that an agent has in a disclosed dual agency relationship with designated agents
  • discuss the disclosures that must be made regarding agency relationships, including the timing of those disclosures
