Overview
Having a farm liability policy or a commercial general liability policy does not protect a farming operation from all liability exposures. The use of vehicles that are as varied as the operations themselves creates exposures as do workers involved in the operations. This course examines other forms of liability insurance that cover these exposures and provides information about excess liability and umbrella policies that may be required to ensure insurance limits are sufficient to fulfill any judgements arising from all farm liabilities.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion, students will be able to:
- recognize other liability loss exposures agribusinesses face
- determine how or whether standard policies cover a given liability situation involving an agribusiness
- understand the various ways in which these exposures can be insured
- recognize the need for and the functions of excess and umbrella liability insurance policies
