Foundations of Farm Insurance

Overview

As farm production grows, the need for insurance products and services tailored to this segment of the market continues to expand. Americans have come to expect an abundant, safe, and affordable supply of farm products, so the need to protect the assets of farmers and ranchers will likely advance as well.

This course provides a thorough orientation to the identification and management of risks in the farm and agribusiness industries and the primary insurance products that may be used to address those risks. It covers the types of individuals, businesses, and organizations that may have farm exposures and the types of policies currently used to insure the various losses that could occur. The course examines the coverages offered under standard farm insurance policies for property, liability, and auto loss exposures, as well as the limitations of those policies and how they are underwritten.
