Homeowners 2022 Policy: Exploring the Coverages

Overview

In March 2021, Insurance Services Office, Inc. announced the filing of its new 2022 countrywide homeowners program. The filing has an effective date of March 1, 2022.

This course is designed to meet the educational needs of insurance practitioners who are accustomed to working with the previous 2011 edition of ISO homeowners policies but must now adapt to selling, underwriting, or adjusting claims on the 2022 edition. The course focuses on major changes in the policy and endorsements and the implications of these changes.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this course, students should be able to:

  • identify key property and liability coverage differences between homeowners policies in the 2011 and the 2022 series
  • recognize the limits and sub-limits that have been increased or changed in the 2022 homeowners policies
  • identify new endorsements introduced with the 2022 homeowners program and recognize substantive changes to revised homeowners endorsements
  • identify the innovative features of the new HO 14 Contents Comprehensive Form and recognize how it differs from the HO 4 Contents Broad Form
