Casino - Prevention of Harassment and Discrimination in the Workplace

Overview

In response to a 2018 sexual harassment case involving a well-known casino and resort, the Nevada gaming industry adopted new rules requiring adherence to harassment and discrimination laws and regulations. This applies not only to casinos, but also to suppliers, vendors, contractors, and consultants to casinos. Because each state has their own laws and interpretation of those laws as they relate to the gaming industry, this course will focus on federal harassment and discrimination laws. Making the right decision regarding employees, colleagues, and coworkers can be a balancing act. Some people have a hard time discerning the difference between appropriate (legal) and inappropriate (illegal) behavior in the workplace. Federal and state laws exist to protect victims of harassment, outlining what practices are prohibited and imposing penalties for violation of those laws.

This course will examine the laws focused on prevention of harassment and discrimination in the workplace. Guidance will be provided through examples to assist you on staying on the right side of the line drawn between right and wrong.
