Personal Lines Insurance Coverage Gaps

Overview

Today's insurance buyer is bombarded with ads and commercials that suggest that price is the only important attribute of an auto or homeowners policy. But using only price can often result in minimal coverages that contain major gaps.

The purpose of this course is to provide a reviews of gaps in coverage that can occur when clients have exposures that may not be covered by standard auto and homeowners policies.

Learning Objectives

On completion of this course, students will be able to

  • identify common coverage gaps that individuals and families face with respect to their insurance coverages
  • understand the policy coverage provisions, exclusions, and limitations that lead to these coverage gaps or inadequacies
  • identify and describe pertinent coverage gaps in insurance programs
  • understand how to address the gaps with appropriate changes to policies or using additional forms of insurance
  • use approaches that result in properly coordinated personal insurance programs
