Overview
This program fulfills the requirement for CFP Board-approved Ethics CE. This program is designed to educate CFP® professionals on CFP Board's new Code of Ethics and Standards of Conduct, which became effective October 1, 2019. Please note: A formal evaluation of this program by each student is required by CFP Board. Students must complete CFP Board's Program Evaluation before they can receive a Certificate of Completion.
Learning Objectives
- understand the structure and content of the revised Code and Standards, including significant changes from prior rules
- describe CFP Board's fiduciary duty, which is a cornerstone of the revised Code and Standards
- identify material conflicts of interest and the options for handling them: either avoid them, or manage them with full disclosure and client consent
- understand the duties that CFP® professionals owe CFP Board, including the duties to report to and cooperate with the board
- identify the practice standards that apply when providing financial advice under the umbrella of financial planning
- understand the duty to provide information to clients when you deliver financial advice and/or financial planning
