Overview
The Canons of Professional Ethics and Conduct continue to offer guiding principles to Texas real licensees. This 3-hour Legal Update II reviews those Canons along with their practical application. The course continues with the "how" of working with multiple offers and the hazards entailed with buyer "love letters." Water and mineral rights along with ad valorem taxes round out the topics of discussion and review.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion, students will be able to:
- identify and define each of the three canons listed in The Canons of Professional Ethics and Conduct
- list three ways a license holder can develop geographical competency
- role-play multiple offer scenarios and license holder best practices
- understand proper use of copyrighted surveys
- understand the obligations and duties license holders owe clients and customers regarding water rights
- understand how real estate transactions involving mineral rights should be handled, including the use of the correct TREC promulgated form
- understand ad valorem tax best practices and guidelines

All Texas real estate licensees - Section §535.92 of the Texas Real Estate Commission Rules requires all license holders to complete Legal Update I and II before renewing their license.
