Overview

Americans in all walks of life own "toys" such as recreational vehicles (RVs), boats, personal watercraft, aircraft, motorcycles, all terrain vehicles (ATVs), golf carts, drones, and other types of motorized vehicles for leisure time enjoyment. Many people think these "toys" are insured by their homeowners and/or personal auto policy, but that is rarely the case.Completing this course will help agents identify the related coverage gaps in their customers' insurance programs and sell them appropriate additional insurance to fill those gaps.

Learning Objectives

Students who successfully complete this course will be able to:

  • identify the personal auto policy (PAP) and homeowners (HO) policy exclusions and limitations that relate specifically to land vehicles, watercraft, hovercraft, and aircraft

  • identify the exposures associated with recreational vehicles (RVs) such as motor homes and camping trailers and explain how they can be insured
  • identify various types of watercraft, describe the exposures associated with various types of watercraft, and explain how they can be insured
  • analyze the exposures associated with hovercraft and aircraft and explain how they can be insured
  • identify how a personal umbrella policy can be used in conjunction with underlying insurance to provide higher limits of liability coverage on motor vehicles, watercraft, and aircraft
