Maine Buyer Relationships Core Course

Overview

This core course focuses specifically on the relationships that agents can have with buyers in a real estate transaction. The course reviews the four statutory relationships in depth including how relationships are formed, when they begin, how they can change during a transaction, as well as including the duties and responsibilities of the agent before, during, and after the transaction.

This course meets the three-hour mandatory Maine required core course for all Maine license types.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • recognize when the solicitation period ends and the relationship begins
  • differentiate between a client and a customer in a real estate transaction
  • name the four relationships a licensee may have with a buyer
  • describe the licensee's responsibilities for the buyer depending on the licensee's role in the transaction
  • explain the fiduciary duties owed to a buyer client
  • describe the limited responsibilities that an agent has in a disclosed dual agency relationship
  • discuss the disclosures that must be made regarding agency relationships, including the timing of those disclosure
