Overview
An important part of a funeral service professional’s duties is to ensure that he or she is familiar with all laws and administrative regulations that apply to the licenses the professional holds. In Iowa, funeral professionals must comply with the Iowa Board of Mortuary Science law and various rules pertaining to the funeral industry.
The purpose of this course is to provide an overview of the laws and regulations that govern the practice of licensed funeral directors who conduct business in the state of Iowa, as well as the laws that pertain to licensed funeral establishments and licensed cremation establishments.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
- understand the duties of a licensed funeral director in Iowa
- ensure that human remains are handled in accordance with the rules and regulations of the Iowa Board of Mortuary Science
- describe when and why disciplinary actions can be taken against funeral directors
