Military Taxpayer Issues: Divorce, Retirement, Disability, and Death

Overview

The purpose of this course is to introduce tax professionals to tax laws as they relate to military clients working through a marital separation and/or divorce or retirement, as well as the protections and benefits available to divorcees and survivors. The taxation issues associated with military divorce can be more complex than those associated with non-military.

We will cover these issues as well as the pensions which form an indispensable part of tax planning. We will cover additional retirement planning vehicles, going beyond military pensions to include such arrangements as individual retirement accounts, and we will conclude with survivors' military benefits and their tax implications.
